Be a safer driver: Distracted driving truths

 

Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Ray LaHood spoke out to show that he heard America’s cry to end the dangerous practice of distracted driving on our roadways.  Distracted driving is serious and life-threatening.

Even though they are leading the effort, you, the drivers, are the key to listening and paying attention to will truly prevent distracted driving.  Simply said, when you get into your car, pay attention to your driving, period.

Distracted Driving can be categorized as follows:

  • Visual — taking your eyes off the road
  • Manual — taking your hands off the wheel
  • Cognitive — taking your mind off your driving

More specifically, if you are performing any non-driving activity that has the potential to distract you from your primary task of driving, and increase your risk of crashing, you are a distracted driver.

The magic of my histories

 

I move. I feel. My blood carries my life.

I am still. I look inside the calm waters... and here I find the truth of who I am.

When overwhelming energies arise, can't I see that the water is only clear when I allow myself to move what reaches out, running evermore inside..?

Whether difficulty or pure joy, I can push it away as if to be scared when it is too overpowering...

When whatever it is has moved through me to its end though, with an 'ahhh' the sun comes out and shines on the tranquility, piercing it with clarity.

Healthy skin, effects of smoking on the skin

  • Topical hydration with lotions
  • Drink plenty of water each day to flush the pores
  • Exercise to keep the circulation moving

Wrinkles are formed as we age, slowly sucking out the moisture inherent in youthful skin.  The sun is not your friend when it comes to wrinkles.  There are harmful effects of extended sun exposure to the skin.   UVA (A can stand for aging). We get UVA rays from the sun through clouds and on days when we don’t know it. This is when most people forget to wear sunscreen, or do not think it’s important.  UVB (B can stand for burns). We get UVB rays from the sun through direct, hot sunlight. This is when most people think to apply sunscreen.

Smoking cigarettes too is a big cause of wrinkles, discoloration and poor texture of the skin. The following are harmful effects of cigarette smoking that affect your skin:
