Embracing illness: Holistic healing process
True healing embraces illness and healing as a whole ...
I am happy for the miracles that occur in healing sometimes. Surreal, yet not. For instance, it is known in some cancer patients with x months left to live—as deemed by their doctors—that to embrace their illness by leading a life full of bliss for the last months of life is to allow cancers go into remission.
It brings hope to the open doors of natural healing, when the fight is relinquished. Holding the tension of opposites—the cure and the illness itself—allows for a new emergence, which never would have risen had it not been for its two counterparts. Whether it be pain, chaos, feeling alone (and their opposites), these contrasts are alive together—always coexisting.
Sometimes your only glory is to restore mystery and dignity to the experience of being sick. You can chose to thank Illness for the chance to be aware of all that you once took for granted. Realizing where your heart or mind was shut, now open, can lighten your way to a better you. It is true that when you allow fears to enter your being, you shut down from really engaging with what matters most. In short, you build a psychological barrier; this wall comes down when life sends strife as its weapon against the wall. As hard as it is, struggle does make you stronger.
Ask yourself: "Heart, who are you?” You may find that the mere act of asking may conjure up naiveté and elicit feelings that make you feel that you’re new to love, as its opposite is juxtaposed nearby in your soul. In your vulnerability, you may feel like a hummingbird alone in the rain; yet, if you let a silent moment ask you to breathe in all that you feel—and stay with the feeling—you’ll find the answer is in you. It's actually in the moment. A transformed spirit is born in the presence, and it's left to float off into the clouds at sunset, but never to stop penetrating the everlasting moment.
The Buddha said,
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Holistic healing concurs that you have an inherent sense of what feels right for you and your optimal state of balance—mind, heart and soul. It urges you to listen to what you hear inside the great and wonderful you.
Healing the self, maybe to your demise, implies that a part of you needs to change. What if you like the way you are? In this, you’ll most likely find even more of yourself to like, as well as a path to feel even better and to like yourself more than ever. So, plant more seeds near the flowers of you. Believe that you are complete as you are. And know that in your purity, you have always been perfect.
Relationship that heals with the attraction of opposites ...
Holding the tension of opposites is inherent—and unconscious—with love. As disputes arise, rather than holding the precious ground, decide to hold the loved one’s tensions instead, to take the opposite energy into your being. Take it into a part of you that could feel its essence—in the name of love—even if it is manifested differently than it would normally be for you.
Love's triumphs reflected, bathed in love and tenderness, can evoke opposite perceptions yet the rescuer is love, as enmeshed stories of the soul come out with their cathartic effect.
the edge of you… is deeper
because you have lived
beyond your tenacity
letting breathe
your heart, my pain
your strength, my tears
your solid form, my shattered intellect
