Planning an escape - Day 10 of 30 day writing challenge
30-Day writing challenge through Kale & Cigarettes (500 words)
I just want to escape. It's what I think about most lately. It's not that my current life is mundane, but I desperately crave some alone time where it's ok to space out and do whatever I want. What a dream to have very little responsibility except to myself and my own health.
First, I will find the authorized Mysore Ashtanga teacher and the yoga studio to do my Mysore six mornings per week. I need to make sure there is some healthy food to be found—a cafe would be ideal, second best a grocery store for stocking up. (Some things need to stay the same in my escape).
floating on a raft
I imagine myself alone floating on a raft off the north shore of Kauai. I'll saunter back to my little Airbnb rental to switch gears, grab my laptop and head off to a palm tree-shaded table to write for hours. I'll repeat this for at least a month. I'll probably write about nature mostly (preferably not tourists).
to be a writer in Paris
Then after I'm good and tan (yes, it's possible) and completely zoned out and relaxed, I'll migrate to Paris and do a repeat of the same thing, replacing tropical ocean floating with journeying around the city visiting the sights. Of course, this will be after my early morning Mysore. The afternoon cafe writer's thing will be a real treat in Paris—a dream come true. I may have to spend two months here.
i want to live like someone in a novel in Mallorca
While in Europe, I have to make it to the island of Mallorca, Spain. So that could be next on the list. I'd have to find a non-touristy place. I already have a Mysore teacher there on my Twitter so that's a start. Where there is a Mysore teacher, there is healthy food (my rationale).
to settle my city girl urge
New York City is a must on my way back home. My days would be similar to the program in Paris, except I'd probably stay up later, still wake earlier for yoga, but then have afternoon naps. Maybe 2-3 weeks here, unless I find a connection to Long Island (as in I have a friend with a house on the beach that I can take over for a period of time, maybe weekends?)
the artsy southwest
Two cities I'd love to hang out in for some time and have never been—just because there is a photo of me there when I'm one years old with my parents doesn't count—are Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico. These will make the list. 2-4 weeks there.
pristine beaches, a yoga teacher and my favorite highway
Encinatas, CA is on my last stop before home... I'd rent a car to drive all the way up the California coast along highway 1 back to the Bay Area. I prefer the north route so I'm not on the cliff edge. Need to make sure the rental car has full iPhone adapter for my music. A convertible is the plan.
That's about 6 months. I have to start somewhere... why not plant the seed here in my 500 words rather than just in my head.
