Behind the eyes of a writer™: A series, part eleven

Behind the eyes of a writer™: A series, part eleven

you set me free

Continuing on from you are, part ten in Behind the eyes of a writer™ series, your tapestry speaks of histories.

...i had no idea

I had no idea how it held me captive, until I was freed and felt the rush of releasing sentiment, reaction and response. Once guarded, now unafraid, I spoke.

You scared me with your abilities. And then, that fear floated away on a cloud, now far from here. Far from me.

I never knew until then that I would thank you for the experience that both protected me and hardened me, yet allowed me to see a direct path to a dream, by virtue of knowing what I needed to avoid.

Embracing illness: Holistic healing process

True healing embraces illness and healing as a whole ...

I am happy for the miracles that occur in healing sometimes. Surreal, yet not. For instance, it is known in some cancer patients with x months left to live—as deemed by their doctors—that to embrace their illness by leading a life full of bliss for the last months of life is to allow cancers go into remission.

It brings hope to the open doors of natural healing, when the fight is relinquished. Holding the tension of opposites—the cure and the illness itself—allows for a new emergence, which never would have risen had it not been for its two counterparts. Whether it be pain, chaos, feeling alone (and their opposites), these contrasts are alive together—always coexisting.

Sometimes your only glory is to restore mystery and dignity to the experience of being sick. You can chose to thank Illness for the chance to be aware of all that you once took for granted. Realizing where your heart or mind was shut, now open, can lighten your way to a better you. It is true that when you allow fears to enter your being, you shut down from really engaging with what matters most. In short, you build a psychological barrier; this wall comes down when life sends strife as its weapon against the wall. As hard as it is, struggle does make you stronger.

Mind-body connections: Physical activity directly influences mental health

Getting physical does make you feel good, as the endorphins released during bodily activities directly influence your mental health. Try spending a day in front of your computer, typing away furiously—using the excuse that you have no time for exercise due to a client deadline. Maybe by evening, you feel like you've accomplished a lot on your computer, but how do you feel emotionally the next morning? Try doing this for a solid week.

Next, try to live a balance day—leading into week—whereby your calendar revolves around you and your physical activites. When you are your high priority business meeting, or social engagement, you certainly feel more mentally, emotionally and psychologically stable as a whole being.

Walk through the vestibule: Sounds and sights as benchmarks

You have, I'm sure, had the experience at one time in your life of forgetting what you were doing as soon as you entered another room. Do doorways actually serve as event boundaries or is one's ability to remember linked to the environment in which a decision was created?

True, research has shown that environmental factors affect memory and that information learned in one environment is retrieved better when the retrieval occurs in the same context. The act of passing through a doorway, however, serves as a way the mind files away memories.

Walk through the vesibule into your new home and feel yourself enter into a new world full of possibilities—new thoughts, sounds, visions.

Your life is interpretted by a cacophony of sounds, sights and feelings, whether in the forefront or background of your days. From city streets to your own old house. As time passes, you get used to it all, and allow chaos to blend into your life. By tuning out that which takes over your senses of distraction, you keep the melodious qualities that bring music to your ears.

Find your way to emotional healing: Turn any obstacle into a gem

image www.simeonschatz.com simeon schatz photograph & visual designLove is the most powerful and beautiful feeling in the world. It can make your world go round... It is also the place where you work out the most important issues inside you. If you are running into obstacles, it's always a great reminder to remember that love brings you closer to the core of who you are. In this way all situations can be seen as gems along the way, each giving you your best offerings.

Traumas can get in the way but with your best foot forward, you can help your loved ones—or yourself. Taking a deeper look at a few troublesome topics can help shed some light.

Addiction. It’s the word that breathes alcohol and drug obsession, hopeless dependence in relationships, and uncontrollable cravings & secretive behaviors. The list goes on... We should ask ourselves though this very question: What drives a person to feel trapped in a compulsive pattern of deceit and hopelessness, and actually believe there is no other way?

Imagine the person who has an uncontrollable urge to fill the missing gaps inside themselves with something destructive. Now imagine this is a person you love.

Feel yourself at peace: Coming into wholeness

What does that mean to come into wholeness? Imagine yourself at peace, in love and at one with your path in life, and then you will know the answer.

You do not need to rely on another person or object. You can find this peace from within yourself. Allow yourself to let go of all the impediments that allow your chaotic mind to take over. Without all of the excess, you are free!

In fact, you can access this freedom any time! The truest side of who you are, peaceful and undisturbed, coexists with your emotional mind.

A metaphor...

Imagine 3 buckets of water.

  • one is muddy
  • one is stirred up
  • one is still and clear

The sun shines in all 3. Each enjoys the sun equally. Reflection is dim and dull in the first, agitated in the second and peaceful in the third. Seeing the sun as the Self, the water as the mind, and the reflection as the Ego, we can make some conclusions.

Pebbles or mountains?

You don't trip over mountains. It's the small pebble that causes you to stumble....

So, why give the pebble such power over you? Do what you have to do to simply get past it, allowing the door to the next dream in your heart to open.

Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain!

It really is as simple as you let it be. When you trust that the unknown can guide you, you will feel awe or fear of knowing the happiness you withhold from yourself.

Even in darkness you can find the pebbles that haunt you. Pick them up with your small hands and toss them aside, or transform them into something precious by giving them thanks for providing you with their lessons. You know they are your gifts.

Surrender to your dream that was picked for you.

What words describe your chaotic mind today?

What words describe you in this moment?

Feeling like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed and need to restart your morning?

Feeling computer savvy yet you have housework to do and feeling your insides jumping out of their skin begging you to exercise?

Feeling like you would love to jump-start your business on all social media sites that you can think of, but chaos in your mind creeps in to tell you that you don't know where to start?

One of my artist social media clients told me this morning:

Sometimes my social media computer brain wants to walk into the woods and spend all day amongst the air and reality of the temporal world... to realign my molecules to focus on pixels and bytes.
